fedi.caserio.de is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
@grunfink@comam.es what does it mean when mentions don't turn into links? (Maybe tags still work... #Snac #Snac2 )
Is it possible to have my snac instance use TOR to federate *and* to have it available over clearweb at the same time?
Would this mean that my instance pulls data from other instances using TOR, but other instances would only use the clearweb to pull data from me, so they could be blocked at the national level?
Now we have #snac2 https://calibernode.com/cloud-apps/snac2 and #betula https://calibernode.com/cloud-apps/betula added to #calibernode 😎
That might explain why I have a single instance snac
server, and still get basically spam posts.
I know I get something similar to that when there is
like a secondary relationship thru someone i am following.
But these things I see seemingly have no connecting relationships.
Max poll options doubled to 16.
Replies to my posts are no longer automatically purged (if I understood the manpage correctly).
Thanks to the snac author for the perfect ActivityPub implementation for me 🍻 #snac2
Friendly periodic reminder that snac is a great, great piece of software.
I've upgraded #FediMeteo in minutes, recompiling snac *inside each jail*.
The Fediverse, as the Fediverse should be.
My name is HiMY (Pronounced Him-Me), from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I have been following all things #LittleFedi ever since @stefano 's replies about it began appearing in #snac2 related conversations.
Found myself reflecting on the LittleOne Community and LittleFedi possibilities often when I've been going about my day, away from the computer.
I'm usually that person in the room who looks at things from a different point of view and asks that question which seems obvious in hindsight, yet difficult to spot before it being raised.
For the past month, I keep seeing possibilities here, and the only way to ask such questions about them, was to finally join and experience LittleFedi for myself, to test my assumptions instead of remaining an outside observer.
Away from the computer, you may find me making #Labyrinths in and around my hometown of Toronto.
@grunfink I feel like this SNAAQ fact should be brought to your attention: https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:iskdt7ztxrpiliznjaaacs5i/post/3mu2peopjmk2t / @andreazanin.bsky.social
I just adjusted my relay instance which now also finally supports #GoToSocial! Of course, it also supports Pleroma, snac, Mastodon, littlefedi, starling and many other ones!
With relays, your own posted content gets distributed to all connected instances, as well you get the content all other instances. Currently, mostly tech related instances are connected, focusing on #Linux, #Proxmox, #BSD / #FreeBSD, #IPv6 and many other things!

There is a person I've been helping for a while who runs two instances, one #GoToSocial and one #snac.
Yesterday, they suffered severe file system corruption on their device, and I lent them a hand with the recovery. For GoToSocial, they restored the DB from the previous backup and got it running again. For snac, although a few files were lost, no action was necessary... it just started back up and did what it had to do, bringing the instance back to full operation.
This goes to show that when software is well-designed and intentionally kept simple, it's also easier to get back up and running when something goes wrong. In this case, snac's "files-only" approach demonstrated excellent resilience.
Thanks, @grunfink !

Ich hab den Code für den @umstritten Bot mal auf Codeberg gepackt:
https://codeberg.org/marcr/umstritten
Ist im Prinzip nur ein kurzes Shellscript, das #snac2 als Instanz, bzw. ActivityPub Gateway verwendet.
